Dan Groza, from Cluj-Napoca, and Andreea Vasiliu, from Bucharest, are the winners of the March phase of Leii BVB competition organized by the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), that aims to engage and reward individual investors who are actively trading on BVB.

Leii BVB began in February and it will last untill November 2017. The competition is a manner of celebrating the 150th anniversary of Leu becoming the national currency of Romania. During these 10 months, investors who carried out at least one trade and have registered it on www.leiibvb.ro will participate in monthly draws where the winners are awarded city breaks in Europe and in some months, also trips to exotic locations such as Dubai or Kenya.

For the March phase, almost 2,200 trades were registered with a total value of RON 15.6mn. The values of the trades registered varied between RON 1 to hundreds of thousands of RON. On April 4th, 150 trades were randomly drawn and placed in descending order based on the value of the trades in order to select the winners.

Dan Groza (36 years old) won an EUR 1,000 city break for two in Dubai, Catania or Valencia, offered by Paravion, Romania’s largest online travel agency. The final destination of the city break is yet to be selected by the winner. The winning trade was conducted on the Transgaz (TGN) shares and the intermediary was BT Capital Partners. Dan Groza is an entrepreneur and the Bucharest Stock Exchange investor since 2005.

"I began investing in the capital market in the search for better returns. I joined Leii BVB competition in order to win and I believe there are good chances for other investors to qualify for the awards. For those who want to start investing in the stock market, I would advise to diversify their portfolio and, in the beginning, to buy shares in stable companies and to devote some time to read about the companies’ performance. For those who do not have time to read, I would suggest to following the advice of their broker," says Dan Groza.

Andreea Vasiliu (44 years) won a Fitbit Blaze Series smartwatch, offered by iStyle Retail, the largest Apple Premium Reseller store chain in Central Eastern Europe. The winning trade was on Romgaz (SNG) shares and it was carried out through the brokerage house Rombell Securities. Andreea Vasiliu is a doctor. She began investing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange 10 years ago, following the recommendation of her father.

"I liked the idea of a competition on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and I, therefore, decided to join Leii BVB. To all potential investors, I would advise to carry out a careful financial analysis prior to investing in a specific company," says Andreea Vasiliu.

The main rules of the competition are the following:
